Steven Gray is a communications, content and marketing leader with experience building teams that deliver business results. He has a deep understanding of media, business, government, tech and global affairs. Between 2020 and 2022, he was Communications Director/Head of Content at Meta (Facebook), leading four teams of editors, writers, video producers, designers and other communicators creating content that explained the company’s tech innovations across six channels that reached more than 22 million people. Previously, he was a Managing Editor at JPMorgan Chase, where he created campaigns, series and projects that introduced the organization’s products, services and people to diverse audiences. Before that, he was Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Public Affairs at Laureate Education, where he built executive communications and global philanthropic programs and events, mostly in Latin America. As a consultant, he has led projects for Notion, Square, Neustar, The Washington Post, Techonomy and other organizations.
Steven began his career as a journalist. In nearly five years at Time Inc., he worked as a Time magazine Washington Correspondent covering the intersection of business and politics, Detroit Bureau Chief, and Chicago-based reporter. For The Wall Street Journal, he covered the global food industry, including McDonald’s, Starbucks and Whole Foods, as well as Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath. As a Washington Post reporter, he covered business, politics, crime, and the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. He has interviewed heads of government, CEOs, Aretha Franklin, Deepak Chopra, and everyday working people. He has provided analysis on MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
He graduated from Howard University and was a graduate student at the University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies.
